Third Eye Chakra Frequency: Why 852 Hz and 963 Hz Both Appear

When you search “third eye chakra frequency,” you will most likely come across a track with the title “852 Hz” and one titled “963 Hz.” Some believe that 852 Hz is the frequency for the third eye or Ajna chakra. Others attribute 963 Hz to the third eye chakra or believe it to be the crown chakra.

These frequencies have become associated with these chakras through New Age teachings and the use of frequency music for healing. Neither of these numbers is scientifically proven to open your third eye or pineal gland. It just depends on what the creator believes their frequency corresponds to.

In this article, we will look at what the different titles mean and how they came to be, what Hz stands for on a frequency track, and what science says about frequency music and meditation.

While researching this topic, I came across many inconsistencies when looking into this topic, so I thought it would be beneficial to share that information and let the you decide what you believe about these frequencies.

Key takeaways

  • The frequencies of 852 Hz and 963 Hz have become popular as the “third eye frequency,” but there is no true frequency that opens your third eye.
  • 852 Hz can be attributed to the third eye. Some will say that 963 Hz is the third eye frequency; others will say it’s the crown chakra.
  • The frequency of a note, how something is tuned, and binaural beats are all different things.
  • There is no research to back up that these frequencies open your chakras or affect your pineal gland when using binaural beats.
  • Listen at a volume that is comfortable for you, and stop listening if you feel any discomfort.

What Does Third Eye Chakra Frequency Mean?

Music and sounds labeled as “third eye frequency” have been given this name by those who sell them or make the meditation recordings. Whether it’s referring to the frequency itself, overall key or tuning, binaural frequency, or the overall concept behind the music, all can be referred to as third eye frequency.

When we say a tone is at 852hz, we are referring to how many times that tone will vibrate in one second. There are 852 vibrations per second for this frequency. The U.S. government has more information on what hertz and frequency are on their website about time and frequency.

Just because something is titled as 852hz third eye music doesn’t mean it has those properties. It could be playing an 852hz note, have music played or altered to be near that frequency, or it could even have a binaural frequency of 852hz or just simply have the frequency named after the third eye.

Why are 852 Hz and 963 Hz both called third eye frequencies?

852hz and 963hz both claim to be third eye frequencies. There isn’t one list of frequencies that all who make these meditations follow. Some will have 852hz as the third eye and 963hz as the crown. Miracle Frequencies has this breakdown of frequencies and chakras, while other companies such as Sine Immersive state 963hz to be a third eye frequency. But they go on to say it’s based on spirituality and not backed by science.

This will help you understand why there are so many contradicting answers when searching for these types of questions.

Label you may seeExample of a modern associationWhat the label does not establish
852 HzMiracle Frequencies associates it with the third eyeThat 852 Hz is a medically recognized chakra frequency
963 HzMiracle Frequencies associates it with the crown; Sine Immersive associates it with the third eyeThat 963 Hz activates a chakra or has a proven biological effect

Are these frequency assignments part of historical chakra teachings?

I would not label 852hz or 963hz as an ancient chakra frequency. There are many variations on what chakras and what they stand for in different writings and practices. Having someone today create a chart showing chakra frequencies is not proof that it is in old teachings.

When researching information on current articles that mention 852hz and 963hz they seem to all be from today’s practices. I could not find any source that showed 852hz or 963hz to be related to the ajna or crown chakra. These may just not be the information that I found.

Modern spiritual practice is how I would describe it. If you want to listen to these tracks you can as long as you don’t claim it to be old teachings or science backed.

A sound frequency, music tuning, and a binaural beat are not the same

There are many ways to describe sound when talking about a frequency. Here are some ways to understand what your listening to.

A tone’s frequency

A frequency of 852hz means that the wave will vibrate 852 times per second. This can be a tone by itself or combined with other audio. It does not determine the loudness of a sound.

Music tuning

Music can be tuned. There may be something different about the track that is tuned to a different frequency than what your used to. This could also be that they added something to the track that makes the 852hz or 963hz more pronounced.

A binaural beat

Binaural beats are created by playing two frequencies that are close in number. They will sound like a beat or vibration if done correctly. Say you play 400hz and 410hz. The difference between the two frequencies would be 10hz so you would hear a 10hz binaural beat.

As you can see one frequency of 852hz is not going to give you an 852hz binaural beat. You also usually need headphones to hear binaural beats because the tracks have different tones playing to each ear. Unless the person who created it wants you to use headphones then you can just listen to it.

What does research say about meditation audio?

Some studies look into how people react to sound or music. These could be things like attention span, feeling relaxed, or changes in brain waves. None of these will conclude that one audio file or frequency does something specific for you.

Here’s one study on Binaural Beats that concluded they do or don’t cause your brain waves to entrain.

Ingendoh, Posny, and Heine (2023) performed a systematic review looking at whether Binaural Beats will entrain your brain waves. Out of the 14 studies looked at, 5 showed positive results, and 8 were negative. One was inconclusive. They also noted many differences in methodology, which made it hard to compare. You can read their PLOS ONE review here.

This study looked at Binaural Beats as a whole. It didn’t show that 852hz or 963hz will affect your third eye/chakras/pineal gland.

I did my best to find information that backs up these claims, but nothing came back that would support this statement. Keep in mind that just because I couldn’t find something doesn’t mean it’s not out there.

It’s also good to know the difference between:

  • A listening experience: “I liked listening to this.”
  • A spiritual interpretation: “I feel like this represents Ajna.”
  • A scientific claim: “”This frequency will change your pineal gland.”

You can like a song and believe it represents your third eye chakra, but that does not mean it has scientific backing.

Listen at a volume that you are comfortable with and step away if you feel uncomfortable.

Choose a comfortable listening volume and take a break if the audio feels uncomfortable.

How can you listen safely?

Use these as an aid to your meditation, not as a cure or instant fix for your third eye chakra.

  • Listen at a comfortable volume. Hz and loudness are not the same thing. Hz measures the frequency of sound. Decibels measure how loud a sound is.
  • Lower your volume or discontinue listening if it causes any discomfort or pain. You may experience ringing/buzzing in your ears if you listen too loud.
  • Take a break if you begin to feel uncomfortable, anxious, or can’t settle.
  • Headphones can be beneficial when listening to Binaural Beats as they allow each tone to play in one ear. If you are listening to a tone or music, you do not have to use headphones.
  • Don’t expect these to help you with a health concern or open your pineal gland.

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders states that you should turn down your volume and move away from the source of the noise. On average, 70 dBA is considered safe for most individuals. You should wear hearing protection if you are exposed to 85 dBA or higher. Everyone is different, so pay attention to how you feel. Frequently asked questions

Can I listen to 852hz and 963hz together?

You can play multiple audio files that may represent these frequencies if you like the sound. We don’t have any research that shows this will help your chakras.

Do I need headphones to listen to a third eye frequency?

Probably not. As stated above, if the audio file is creating Binaural Beats, you will want to use headphones. Most music/tone files you can listen to on your normal speaker. Just make sure the track you are listening to explains what they are trying to achieve.

How long should I listen to 852hz or 963hz?

There is no science behind listening to either of these for a certain amount of time to benefit your third eye chakra. Listen for as long as you feel comfortable and step away if you begin to feel discomfort.

Is it okay to listen to third eye frequency music while I sleep?

As long as you are not disturbing your sleep, I don’t see why not. Again, these frequencies have not been proven to help you with anything while you sleep. If you enjoy listening to music while you sleep, keep it at a low volume.

How do I know if a track is actually using that frequency?

If the title of the song is all you have to go off of, then no, you don’t know. Try to find an explanation of what that number means. Is it the tone? Are they trying to create a Binaural Beat? If they explain it to you, that’s all you can hope for. There is still no proof that it will affect your third eye chakra.

What if I don’t enjoy listening to the track?

Then don’t listen. You can always turn down the volume or try a different track. Don’t force yourself to listen to something you don’t like.

I think it’s important to stay open-minded about your beliefs while knowing that there isn’t any research to back up that these frequencies will do something for your body. Maybe you like the sound and feel relaxed while listening to it. That’s great! Just understand what you are doing and why you are listening to it. That’s what I hope to teach on PinealGland.blog.

Conclusion

There is no one “Third Eye Chakra Frequency.” Many websites have started labeling 852hz as your third eye chakra. Others have stated 963hz is your third eye chakra. Then you have others who put 963hz as the crown chakra.

As you can see, there are many variables when trying to label a tone as your third eye chakra frequency. Whether it’s the Hz of the tone, the note it’s being played at, or the binaural beat frequency, they all have different meanings.

There is no research to back up that 852hz or 963hz will open your third eye chakra or affect your pineal gland. So use these for listening pleasure and step away if they start to bother you.

You can listen for personal enjoyment or focus, while keeping the volume comfortable and stopping if the sound bothers you. The key is to understand what the label describes, and not confuse a spiritual association with a proven biological effect.
